Our Apprenticeship Program
The Technical Sales Representative Apprenticeship is a structured, multi-year training program designed to develop skilled professionals who combine technical product knowledge with customer-focused sales and support capabilities.
Apprentices will receive on-the-job training alongside experienced sales and operations professionals while completing related technical instruction aligned with the registered apprenticeship program. Over time, apprentices will build a strong foundation in aerospace products, customer engagement, sales processes, and internal systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Apprentice – Technical Sales Representative, you will:
Learn the structure and function of the technical sales organization and its role within Ontic’s business model
Develop an understanding of aerospace and engineered products and how they support customer operational needs
Support customer accounts by assisting with quoting, order entry, and coordination through delivery
Help maintain positive, professional customer relationships throughout the sales and fulfillment process
Assist in researching and responding to customer inquiries related to order status, production scheduling, shipping, and delivery
Learn and apply sales and spaneting techniques to identify and qualify prospective customers
Support development of sales pipelines using approved tools and systems
Gain experience using platforms such as Salesforce, CRM/CMS tools, email campaigns, and internet research tools
Assist in preparing and delivering product presentations using written, visual, and virtual communication methods
Learn techniques for handling customer objections and addressing customer needs professionally
Track customer activity and product usage to help identify trends and opportunities
Maintain accurate customer records, reports, and documentation using company systems
Participate in cross-training activities to support the broader Operations and Sales teams
Follow all company policies, quality standards, and Health & Safety requirements

Who We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for motivated, curious individuals who are interested in developing a career in technical sales within the aerospace industry. Successful apprentices are strong communicators, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how technical products, customer relationships, and sales strategy come together in a fast-paced environment.
Education / Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Associate degree coursework in Technical Sales, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred, or willingness to complete related instruction as part of the apprenticeship
Ability to meet eligibility requirements for a registered apprenticeship program in New York State
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to complete required classroom instruction in conjunction with on-the-job training
Working Conditions
Full-time apprenticeship position
Office-based environment with occasional exposure to operational areas
Work is primarily sedentary; occasional overtime or travel may be required to support business needs

Compensation Pay Range
