Paint Prep & Spraying Technician
Are you skilled in surface treatments, masking, and spray painting? We&8217;re looking for a hands-on Technician to join our cutting-edge manufacturing team, with a strong emphasis on paint preparation, spraying, and finishing. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in high-precision production supporting world-class industries like space, aerospace, automotive, and motorsport.
- Rates: 18 Per Hour PAYE (+holiday pay) / 23.82 Per Hour Umbrella + 20 shift allowance
- Shift: Double day shift, 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm – rotating weekly
- 12 month contract
- Location: Stevenage
Role Overview
- To produce a consistently high-quality product in line with production paperwork whilst maintaining alignment with quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- To be certified as competent in the required skills as identified by the area skills matrix.
- To undertake production activities in the required timescale in line with the production plan.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and spray painting components to a consistently high standard, working to precise specifications and detailed work instructions.
- Carrying out component masking, acid etching, grit blasting, and adhesive mixing to exacting quality and safety standards.
- Ensuring parts are prepared, painted, and finished in line with production plans, quality checks, and cleanliness protocols.
- Working within cleanroom and controlled environments, adhering to 5S, Health & Safety, and LDS procedural compliance.
- Supporting and mentoring team members where required, and contributing to continuous improvement and 5S activities.
Essential Skills:
- Experience using spray painting equipment, with a strong understanding of paint mixing and application techniques.
- Comfortable working with detailed drawings, electronic work instructions, and documented processes.
- Background in sectors such as aerospace, motorsport, or automotive where attention to detail is critical.
- Awareness of quality gates and process checkpoints.
- Physically fit and comfortable working at height.
Desirable Skills:
- 3+ years in a technical environment involving prep, spraying, or surface finishing.
- Familiarity with spray booth and oven operation, including maintenance and performance monitoring.
- Cleanroom or precision manufacturing experience.
- Understanding of waste management procedures relating to coatings and surface treatments.
