What are your contributions to the team?
Our team ensures that all employees have the proper documentation to travel and/or work in all countries where Bombardier operates.
During your employment, you will contribute to:
- Coordinate and prepare applications for Visas, work permits and permanent residence for Canada, the United States and other countries
- Prepare translations, affidavits and other legal documents
- Prepare various correspondences with governments to respond to inspections and audits
- Be in contact with the various levels of government to follow up on files and make representations (at ports of entry, consulates / embassies) if necessary
- Coordinate and prepare port of entry letters for business travelers and assist them with their business visa/WP application and registration procedures, when required
- Coordinate the certification, notarization and legalization of required documents with embassies, consulates, bar association; etc.
- Conduct legal research in the field of immigration law, labor law and related matters
- Draft legal opinions and assist the management team in developing the most effective immigration strategies
- Supervise the management of governmental portals (IRCC Employer Portal, MIFI, etc.)
- Supervise the management and updating of the database containing all the information related to the expiry date of work permits
- Supervise the data entry and document importation into the database managing Legal Affairs and Global Mobility files, documents and data, and the preparation of Excel reports
- Participate in corporate governance activities such as tracking changes in immigration laws and regulations that may impact Bombardier
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations and give training sessions to the Human Resources community, the International Mobility team and Legal Services
- Ensure immigration compliance and adherence to the internal immigration policy
- Ensure the coordination of global immigration services with our external suppliers.
How to thrive in this role? Skills, knowledge & experience:
- You have a law degree from a Canadian or American university
- You are a member in good standing of the Quebec Bar or the Bar Association of another Canadian province (being a member of a US State Bar is an asset)
- You have at least three (3) years of experience in a similar position in a large private company or law firm
- You are fluent in French and English, both orally and in writing (knowledge of other languages is an asset)
- You have intercultural skills and international experience
- You have a good sense of organization and strong document management and file management skills
- You have advanced skills in the use of IT tools
- You can easily write letters and review documents
- You are customer oriented
- You have the capacity to work on several files at the same time
- You demonstrate a high level of initiative and are autonomous
- You have an eye for detail
- You have a desire to learn new things
- You are flexible.
