Cloud Developer

Job Description:

DPP is seeking a Cloud Developer IV for an opportunity in Columbia, SC.

Work arrangement:

Onsite is highly preferred, but open to remote
W2 position; 6 months
Candidates who are foreign nationals must have resided in the US for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years prior to assignment to the client’s applicable government contract.

Position summary:

A typical day for this In the Cloud Developer involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable cloud-native applications that align with enterprise architecture standards.
The developer spends much of their time writing and updating code in languages like Python or Node.js, deploying serverless functions using AWS Lambda or Azure Functions.
They use Terraform to define infrastructure as code, ensuring consistent and secure deployment of cloud resources.
Integration work is common, connecting services such as API Gateway, S3, or Cosmos DB to support application functionality.
The developer also builds and maintains CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps to automate testing and deployments.
They may containerize applications using Docker and occasionally deploy them to Kubernetes clusters for more complex workloads.
Monitoring and troubleshooting are part of the daily routine, using tools like CloudWatch or Datadog to ensure system performance and reliability.
Collaboration is key, as they often work with cross-functional teams, contribute to technical documentation, and provide guidance on cloud best practices.

Required technologies:

Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud or Azure and lift-and-shift or re-platforming projects.
Experience with DevSecOps in the Cloud
Experience with Full-stack Java/Java EE implementation and JavaScript frameworks, implementing CI/CD pipelines, tools (Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, GitLab CI) and monitoring.
Cloud Platform expertise (AWS or Azure), deep hands-on experience with services like AWS Services, API Gateway, or Azure functions, App services, Cosmos DB, etc.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC), proficiency with tools like Terraform, and AWS CloudFormation for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure
Agile experience with Jira and Confluence

Nice to have:

Monitoring and Observability tools. Exposure to tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor for application performance monitoring and alerting
Experience in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Fargate, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes)
Hands-on proficiency with Python
Cloud certifcations

Minimum required experience:

6 years of application development, systems testing or other job-related experience.

Job/class description for Developer IV:

Responsible for analysis, design, programming, and implementation of complex applications tasks and projects. Devise feasible, logical procedures to resolve business problems through the use of computer resources. Formulate scope and objectives through research to develop or modify complex systems. Review detailed specifications and recommend modifications. Design, code, test and debug complex application programs.
Produce deliverables related to the assigned project. Perform analysis, design, programming, and implementation of systems and procedures to solve complex business or scientific problems. Evaluate interrelationships in immediate programming area to determine how changes in one program will affect another related area. Apply conversions and enhancements to business systems. May lead or provide expertise on assigned projects.
Work closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Ensure solutions are aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization’s architectural standards. Assist in post-implementation support and system enhancements.
Test modified programs, create necessary test files and data, verify logic, debug, and write relevant documentation.
Design and develop IT systems. Devise new sources of data and develop new approaches and techniques. Involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting complex application software that is delivered on time and within budget.
Provide guidance to lower-level programmers/analysts. Act as an internal consultant by providing technical guidance on complex projects. Determine and resolve problems with other systems analysts, programmers, and systems users.
Test designed programs, verify logic, perform any necessary "debugging," and write the documentation.

Minimum required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Comprehensive understanding of applications/development, quality assurance and integration methodologies, concepts and facilities in a mainframe, midrange, and/or PC/LAN environment.
Demonstrates a high level of technical proficiency in the areas of programming languages, platform capabilities, and methods of systems analysis and program design.
Excellent analysis, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrates logical abstract thinking and assimilating/adhering to project goals and deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Able to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
Strong knowledge of interpersonal skills/team building.
Familiar with project management concepts.
Ability to assess requirements, alternatives, and risks/benefits for low- to high-impact projects.
Pays attention to detail.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, vendors, etc.
In-depth understanding of organizational functions, behavior, and inter-relationships.
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant operating systems, programming languages, and development tools and their usage in the company.

Required education/equivalencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 10 years without a degree)
