Job Description:

Under the direction of the assigned site administrator, the CTE Aviation Teacher will develop and deliver a rigorous, hands-on aviation curriculum aligned with California CTE standards. This includes instruction in both manned and unmanned flight systems, flight simulation, aviation safety, aeronautics, and FAA Part 107 certification prep.

No teaching credential yet? No problem — WCUSD will support qualified industry professionals through the credentialing process.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging aviation instruction, including manned and unmanned flight (drones), using project-based learning and industry-standard technologies.
  • Operate and teach with flight simulators, drone equipment, and aviation software.
  • Prepare students for FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification.
  • Develop student understanding of aviation safety, communication, navigation, weather, and aerodynamics.
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment focused on professionalism, employability skills, and teamwork.
  • Integrate real-world aviation experiences and maintain connections with industry partners and post-secondary institutions.
  • Maintain records of student achievement and progress; communicate regularly with parents and counselors.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives and CTE program development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience in aviation, aerospace, or flight operations.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII).
  • Remote pilot experience and/or certification.
  • Ability to teach drone operations and FAA Part 107 content.
  • Experience with flight simulation platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.
