Job Description
The Machinist sets up and operates milling machines and CNC equipment to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role uses precision measuring tools to verify quality, monitors machine performance during production, and ensures that all finished components meet required standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate milling machines and CNC equipment to produce machine parts to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Align and securely fasten holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines before machining operations.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process to maintain product quality and equipment performance.
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to check for defects and verify conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Adjust machine settings and tooling as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency throughout production runs.
- Follow work instructions, specifications, and safety procedures while performing machining operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment with care to support a safe and efficient operation.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of machine operation experience in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating milling machines.
- Experience working with CNC machines in a production setting.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, to verify part dimensions.
- Ability to read and follow specifications and instructions related to machining operations.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure parts meet required quality standards.
- Ability to monitor and adjust machine feed and speed during machining processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience measuring, examining, and testing completed units to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Experience aligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
- Familiarity with general safety practices in a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to maintain an organized workspace and handle tools and equipment responsibly.

Work Environment
This position is based in a machining and manufacturing environment working with milling machines, CNC equipment, and precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. Openings are available on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, offering flexibility in scheduling. The role involves standing for extended periods, working around moving machinery, and following established safety procedures while operating and setting up equipment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
