Job Description:
The Supply Chain Area Manager will have both tactical and strategic responsibilities in the casting and hot mill areas for raw materials/inventory management and production center scheduling to drive product flow for customer order fulfillment. This includes related capacity planning, business planning, and planning systems tool support and analysis.
- Support the business to maximize financial results and customer service at the lowest possible inventory cost
- Develop and execute business strategies and processes to eliminate waste and maximize customer satisfaction
- Leverage Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes to execute enhanced customer service models built from target conditions that respond to customer needs and competitive situations
- The incumbent recognizes that accident and injury prevention are equal in importance to production, quality, delivery, recovery, and cost control
- The incumbent accepts the responsibility to work safely and promote safety consciousness among other employees
- The incumbent will take a leadership role in promoting and practicing waste elimination concepts and philosophies within his/her span of control and responsibility

Primary Objectives:
- Lead the Supply Chain scheduling teams for both Casting and Hot Rolling setting clear planning, scheduling, and capacity strategies for these areas collaborating with area manufacturing operations teams in support of on time customer order fulfillment.
- Forecast and requisition raw material requirements for scrap, prime, commercial metals, and purchased ingot. Collaborate with Corporate Procurement on supply strategies and supplier performance.
- Lead raw materials management for scrap including purchases and sales, tollers, and local warehousing and processing as well as necessary outbound transportation.
- Work within the overall Sales and Operations Planning process as owner of the inventory management and raw materials forecasting model and associated processes. Manage inventory to targeted levels maintaining alignment with financial plans.
- Develop and monitor tracking systems and metrics to evaluate supply chain plans and execution to supply chain plans to ensure agreed operating results are achieved
- Develop strategies to optimize management and flow of product through the mill by prioritizing orders to achieve maximum customer service and financial performance. This includes understanding both customer needs and working to help prioritize product launch into the mill to achieve optimal flow through mill constraints.
- Take a guiding role to ensure that systematic changes are developed and deployed across the Supply Chain value stream which will lead to enhanced customer satisfaction while eliminating processing and inventory waste.
- Assess the capability of each staff member and provide timely and effective personal development opportunities. Enhance the leadership and functional capabilities across the breadth of the Supply Chain Management organization for succession planning. Navigate all personnel issues including selection, termination, and performance appraisal with direction to ensure that key operating results are achieved.
- Work cross-functionally to identify wasteful practices and information flows
- Develop and implement target conditions that simplify information flows and align order fulfillment processes to facilitate problem solving. This requires extensive knowledge of mill production and information flow paths.
- Manage negotiations, communications, and relationships as required with business partners.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire

- Previous people leadership/management or the demonstrated ability to lead teams/work groups is required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, mill process knowledge, and a demonstrated ability to use production planning and office/administrative software to support business needs
- Supply chain and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Prior experience in inventory management, production flow and leveling, production systems and tools, manufacturing challenges, and supplier/customer relationship management.
