The Structures Supervisor oversees aircraft modification and repair operations to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, technical data, and company policies. They uphold quality and safety by maintaining current manuals, enforcing standards, and ensuring all work meets regulatory requirements.
They monitor performance, provide coaching, and conduct evaluations to drive results and continuous improvement. The supervisor coordinates across departments, maintains accurate records, obtains customer approvals, and enforces company policies and safety regulations. Communication, teamwork, and accountability are promoted to achieve high-quality outcomes while respecting employees and customers alike.
As a 24/7 operation, we have openings across all shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and 12-hour schedules. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work any shift based on operational needs. Some schedules may qualify for shift differential. Overtime—both scheduled and unscheduled, including holidays—may also be required.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the modification and repair and aircraft structures ensuring that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations and Marana Aerospace policies and procedures and that the technical data and procedure manuals are reviewed, kept current and available. - Studies and reviews production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Adjusts work procedures as needed and recommends measures for improved efficiency.
- Reads and interprets manufacturers and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Supervises the review of non-preplanned documents to identify methods of repair and/or replacement identifying necessary parts, materials and tooling requirements. Provides timely estimate for all maintenance on non-preplanned documents within scope of responsibility.
- Ensures that qualified personnel are selected and that the orientation and on-the-job training programs are conducted and effective
- Monitors performance of subordinates. Provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling. Conducts performance appraisals.
- Coordinates responsibilities within work areas. Analyzes and resolves work problems and remains available for consultation of matters relating to work being performed.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Ensures that customer approval is obtained on original and revised estimates to accomplish maintenance on aircraft and components.
- Ensures that all required paperwork is satisfactorily completed, signed and in compliance with existing regulations and procedures.
- Coordinates with other departments/managers/supervisors as necessary.
- Ensures that employees receive proper orientation and training and performs on-the-job training as necessary. Ensures that training is documented in employee training records.
- Interprets company policies to workers, enforces safety regulations and the proper use of equipment and ensures that quality standards are met.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers including assigning work duties for maximum utilization of manpower and analyzing and resolving work problems.
- Maintains communications within area of responsibility, informing employees as to plans and progress and promoting teamwork and cooperation.
- Conducts performance evaluations on employees and makes recommendations to management regarding personnel actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
Marginal Job Functions:

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Capable of working independently or under supervision.
- Flexibility to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
- A License or Repairman’s certificate is required
- 5+ years in aircraft structural repair, with supervisory experience is required
Preferred
- Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and mathematical proficiency.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English with the capability to follow verbal and written instructions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education or training in aircraft maintenance or equivalent combination of education, training or experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Occasional crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
- Hydraulic press brake, power shear, forming equipment, and tools, lift equipment, stands, ladders, glass beading equipment, rivet guns, drills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The work location will include aircraft Maintenance hangars, the flightline, and Avionics shop.
- Potential hazards include exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, electrical charges and radar waves, materials identified on the Safety Data Sheets, and working around moving machinery.
OTHER DUTIES:
- May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
- Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
