The Opportunity
The Senior Information Technology Communication (ICT) and Business Systems Support Technician is responsible for providing advanced technical assistance and support for Information Technology (IT) hardware, software, and business systems. You will provide advanced technical assistance, troubleshoot complex issues, and lead user training initiatives. Your expertise will help align our IT systems with organisational goals while mentoring junior team members and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Advanced Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide second and third-line support for IT hardware, software, and business systems, ensuring timely resolution of complex technical issues.
- Business Systems Maintenance: Maintain and support enterprise applications and ERP systems, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with operational requirements. Assist in system upgrades, patch management, and performance optimisation, contributing to the overall reliability of business systems.
- IT Infrastructure & Security: Support network connectivity, server administration, cloud-based infrastructure and data backup tasks while adhering to IT security protocols. Oversee data backups, disaster recovery planning, and system integrity checks.
- User Training & Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, user guides, and FAQs to support user self-service and knowledge sharing. Develop and deliver training sessions for end-users on IT systems and business applications, enhancing user proficiency and confidence.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Work with the ICT team to identify automation opportunities and participate in process improvement initiatives. Assist in the research and procurement of IT hardware and software solutions, providing input based on user needs and organisational goals.
- Mentorship: Train and guide junior IT staff, fostering a collaborative work environment while ensuring quality and adherence to established procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- 6+ years of experience in IT support or technical support, focusing on hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in supporting various operating systems (Windows and Mac) and business applications (Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and experience troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Proven commitment to exceptional customer service.
Desirable:
- Qualification in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
- Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
