Provide analytical support to the Flight Operations Crew Planning department.
Responsibilities: Participate in the development of crewing strategies to maximize pilot utilization and productivity while achieving the flight crew coverage goals. Evaluate current staffing and provide recommendations on requirements for additional positions and the distribution of new-hire pilots based on the flight crew coverage goals. Develop pilot training schedules in line with departmental strategies that optimize the use of training department resources (instructors and simulators) as well as minimize activation pay and additional costs. Monitor the progress of pilots in training and adjust training plans to ensure flight crew coverage goals are met. Administer and coordinate logistics with regard to furlough, recall and pilots on leave of absence.Participate on the joint Air Canada Crew Manning Steering Committee as a company representative. Assist in the development and the administration of the annual & monthly pilot vacation bids. Coordinate with crew scheduling with regard to training, qualifications, and other data on an on-going basis and, in particular, prior to block closing to ensure PBS and NetLine Crew data are accurate.Assist in the implementation and interpretation of the collective agreement in the areas of vacation, pilot position assignments, and training.Work effectively within Manpower Planning software to coordinate training, absences, vacation and complete effective training plansRespond effectively and in a timely manner to pilot queries.
QualificationsUniversity degree or college diploma, preferred.Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.Excellent organizational skills.Detail oriented.Sound computer skills, including working knowledge of NetLine, Forum, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and other PC applications.Must be able to work well within a team environment.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines.Flight Operations experience, a definite asset.Previous experience working with collective agreements, in particular the Air Canada/ALPA Collective Agreement, an asset.
