Job Description:

The Manager of Supply Chain and Planning will oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of supply chain and planning strategies within the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector, specifically focusing on secondary market helicopter engines, particularly Rolls Royce M250 and RR300 models. This role involves leading a team, managing inventory, forecasting demand, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring the efficient flow of parts, materials, and services throughout the organization. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, customer support, procurement, and operations, to ensure that all supply chain processes align with operational goals and customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supply Chain Management

  • Supplier Management and Coordination:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, OEMs, and third-party vendors to ensure on-time delivery of parts, components, and materials.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and service providers, ensuring competitive pricing, high-quality standards, and reliable delivery schedules.
    • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, lead times, or cost discrepancies.
  • Inventory Control and Optimization:
    • Oversee the management of inventory levels for critical helicopter engine parts, including Rolls Royce M250 & RR300 engines, ensuring adequate stock to meet operational needs while avoiding excess stock.
    • Establish and implement inventory control procedures to minimize excess stock and obsolescence, ensuring compliance with inventory management best practices and aerospace industry standards.
    • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to determine inventory needs and adjust stocking strategies accordingly.
  • Procurement:
    • Coordinate procurement activities to ensure the timely acquisition of parts and components required for engine overhaul and maintenance.
    • Develop sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, and lead-time requirements for both new and refurbished parts in the secondary market.
    • Monitor the supply chain for risks related to the availability of critical parts and address these risks proactively.
  • Demand Planning and Forecasting:
    • Lead demand planning efforts to ensure that the organization has the right parts, materials, and resources at the right time.
    • Utilize historical data, market trends, and customer forecasts to generate accurate demand forecasts.
    • Work closely with sales, production, and customer service teams to align forecasts with customer requirements and expected workloads.
  • Logistics and Distribution:
    • Oversee logistics operations, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery of parts and components to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
    • Work with logistics partners to optimize transportation costs, routing, and delivery schedules.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations regarding the handling and shipping of aerospace components.

Planning and Operations

  • Production Planning and Scheduling:
    • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure that maintenance and overhaul activities on M250 & RR300 engines are scheduled efficiently, accurately and achievable to the production schedules.
    • Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed to address potential delays or capacity constraints.
  • Capacity and Resource Planning:
    • Analyze resource and capacity requirements to ensure that sufficient personnel, equipment, and materials are available to meet production schedules.
    • Coordinate with HR and operations management to ensure that staffing levels meet demand for engine overhauls and repairs.
  • Forecasting and Reporting:
    • Lead monthly and quarterly forecasting and reporting activities, including updating stakeholders on supply chain performance, inventory levels, and material availability.
    • Generate and present reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, procurement lead times, and cost savings.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency of the supply chain and planning functions, including automation opportunities and lean practices.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, driving initiatives that reduce costs, improve delivery times, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the supply chain and planning team, fostering a collaborative environment focused on achieving clients key business initiatives.
    • Provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance team members' skills and knowledge in supply chain and planning best practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the operations and quality assurance teams to ensure that technical requirements for helicopter engines (M250 & RR300) are met across all clients sites.
    • Coordinate with the sales, customer service, and finance teams to ensure alignment between supply chain operations and customer requirements.
    • Collaborate with senior management to drive the strategic vision for supply chain and planning activities.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure all supply chain and planning activities comply with relevant aerospace industry regulations, including safety, environmental, and quality standards.
    • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and implement mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Customer Satisfaction:
    • Ensure that customer requirements for timely delivery of helicopter engine parts and maintenance services are met.
    • Address customer issues related to supply chain and planning, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in supply chain management or planning including familiarity with multi-site, international operations, particularly in Aerospace and MRO sectors. Engine MRO experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards, regulations, and best practices, particularly in MRO operations.
  • Sound knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing processes including demand forecasting/planning, capacity planning, lean manufacturing, 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Places extremely high value on being part of a team and competing to succeed. Can switch between the roles of a team leader and team member seamlessly.
  • Demonstrated success using metrics and data-driven decision making to improve operations, drive down costs, increase productivity and justify capital spending.
  • Has deployed processes such as S&OP (SIOP), Excess and Obsolescence, Standard Costing, KanBan systems, and Inventory cycle counting from scratch in organizations, as well as developed staff to implement.
  • Has created automated, digitized operations environments; has implemented automation, data collection and integrated systems to operational performance.
  • Must be able to communicate and build relationships across functions, and at all levels of the organization.
  • Relentless drive to serve the customer through operations, and ability to develop a vision for team.
  • Ability to champion change, set goals and review progress to support team development.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to reason and influence at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to think critically and strategically with strong analysis skills.
