Position Summary
The JT8 Engine Maintenance Manager is responsible to the JT8 Program Manager, in areas that concern engine maintenance processes for the engine repair center, production and material departments, and efforts to ensure engines are repaired within budgeted time and within Aero Air, FAA and our customers standards of quality. The Engine Maintenance Manager also supervises the stockroom and materials clerk.

- Ensure the coordination and communication between the Maintenance personnel and Production Planning personnel is continuous, produces acceptable productivity.
- Responsible for hiring, terminating, training, and developing, reviewing of performance, and administering corrective action for the stockroom and materials clerk.
- Establish procedures to determine the need for new hire and recurrent training of personnel consistent with the work to be performed and to comply with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and manufacturers recommendations.
- Responsible for the continuous improvement of quality, cost, safety and delivery of the shop work on time.
- Ensure necessary maintenance entries for engine processing used by the repair station are properly executed by the aircraft maintenance technicians responsible.
- Ensuring that any work accomplished outside the facility is done in accordance with manufacturer and company quality standards.
- Maintain the preservation of all units or parts during the work process, installation, and storage.
- Assure the proper handling of parts while in the repair process and when work is completed.
- Ensure the proper handling and preservation of all engine material during the work process, installation, and storage.
- Update the Work in Progress (WIP) report on the status of all engines, modules, and piece parts going through the process steps on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Report any obstacles which have any bearing on the cycle time or financial results for each service order.
- Be available during off shift hours to communicate and coordinate with appropriate personnel to ensure that required responsibilities are carried out.
- Conduct production meetings with key stakeholders.
- Maintain the premises of the repair station in a clean and orderly manner.
- Ensure shop tools and equipment are in serviceable working conditions.
- Observe and enforce safety precautions.
- Ensure production functions are performed as outlined in the engine shop manual.
- Responsible for actively participating in Aero Air Safety Programs and SMS. Required to report all safety concerns in a timely manner. Required to ensure that departmental employees are performing their functions in the safest possible manner. Required to follow the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health organization with legal authority at the location at which they are working.
- Maintain reliable, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Successful completion and favorable results of pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check.

- Other duties assigned by the JT8 Program Manager.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in aviation management, engineering, or related field.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of engine production.
- Understanding of Original Engine Manufacturer, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives (OEM, SBs, and ADs) applicable to JT8D-200 series.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years heavy shop repair internal experience on commercial type bypass engines, to include tear down, inspection, build up and testing.
- JT8D-200 series engine maintenance experience is required.
- 5 years supervisory or lead experience.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Must be able to regularly lift 10-50 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50-100 pounds with assistance.
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb all day.
- Accurate hand/eye coordination.
- Finger dexterity is required as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- This position frequently works near moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Regular exposure to moderate noise level.
- Occasional exposure to loud engine testing and module balancing.
- Ability to wear and utilize personal protective equipment and gear.
