Primary Responsibilities

  • Work safely. Adhere to all company and regulatory EH&S policies and procedures. Look for safety issues and notify leadership of all safety concerns.
  • Follow schedules as outlined.
  • Must know and be able to perform all duties on process line.
  • Review and interpret process card for internal and customer requirements.
  • Set up shear for proper shear length, perform quality checks to ensure the length/weight of the ingot meets customer requirements.
  • Monitor main console during automatic run.
  • Monitor the conveying of the concast bars into shear press.
  • Monitor bar transfer to quench tank.
  • Grease, oil, and change shear blades. Assist with shear blade changes.
  • Check condition of hydraulic hoses.
  • Help clean quench tank when necessary.
  • Help keep in-line blast separator clean and proper shot level in hopper.
  • Set up jet ink stamp with proper heat and alloy.
  • Visually inspect finished good ingots for size and surface quality.
  • Grind cracks in finish good ingots.
  • Grind slag defects in finished good ingots.
  • Package finished good ingots in tubs, barrels, and pallets as packaging requires.
  • Have proper barrels, skids, or tubs present for next heat run.
  • Trouble-shoot and assist with repairs.
  • Record data on log sheets.
  • Record process information and make appropriate entries into GLOVIA.
  • Provide input for ordering supplies and tooling.
  • Maintain good housekeeping – general cleaning, sweeping, emptying trash hoppers.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Area Manager.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School graduate, GED, or equivalent required.

Advanced education classes in math and/or science preferred.

Foundry or previous manufacturing work experience in a related occupation preferred.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to operate a powered industrial truck.
  • Must be able to physically work in an extreme heat stress environment with exposure to molten metal, dust, and fumes and ability to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment required for the position.
  • Must be physically capable of performing heavy manual duties, operate a variety of machinery and equipment and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to perform basic computer functions.
  • Must be able to read work instructions.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate.
  • Must be able to read technical instructions.
  • Must work overtime without notice.
