What you can expect as a Lead Maintenance Inspector at West Star:

As a Lead Maintenance Inspector, you will manage the performance of operational quality control tasks and ensure adherence to the policies and procedures in the West Star Aviation, WSA Repair Station & Quality Control Manual, Customer Maintenance Programs, and Federal Aviation Regulations.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS, including:

• Review technician assignments and sign-offs to ensure adherence to Roster and Repair Station Authorizations
• Perform front-line spot checks to verify compliance with AMM, RSQCM, and customer GMM guidelines
• Ensure Repair Station RQC and Operators RII requirements are properly identified, inspected, and documented
• Confirm engine run/taxi qualifications for assigned technicians
• Verify squawk completion and operational checks
• Conduct spot checks to assess technician proficiency
• Communicate and verify coordination with tech support
• Ensure compliance with customer MEL “M” procedures and Maintenance and Quality Standard Operating Procedures
• Perform final aircraft walk-around and release, focusing on areas affected by maintenance
• Notify customer via email upon aircraft release from West Star Aviation custody
• Confirm use of current and appropriate Technical Data (e.g., OEM manuals, bulletins, specifications)
• Enforce WSA RSQCM policies and procedures
• Oversee proper tagging, inspection, and identification of parts/components in real-time with maintenance
• Ensure customer requests are fulfilled per WSA standards
• Verify tech support involvement and documentation in Corridor corrective actions
• Monitor MX Net project status and updates
• Spot check Ramp App usage
• Execute functions authorized on the Repair Station Roster
• Reject non-compliant work per WSA RSQCM, customer programs, and FAA regulations
• Reject incomplete or improperly completed work submitted for RTS
• Extend the RTS line to prevent the release of aircraft with unresolved quality issues
• Reject inadequate corrective actions related to quality concerns
• Communicate effectively in English (spoken, written, and read)
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Job Requirements:

What You’ll Need to Bring With You

Your Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Airframe and Powerplant License or Repairman Certificate (required)
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not mandatory)
  • Aircraft-specific factory training (preferred)

Your Experience

  • Extensive experience in maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations with Part 43
  • Proficient in using inspection equipment and visual inspection aids appropriate for the article being inspected

Your Initiative

  • A self-motivated team player who can perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working under deadlines and time constraints

Your Sense of Responsibility

  • Attend work daily as scheduled, including overtime and weekends
  • Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Perform all work in accordance with FAA guidelines
  • Follow company and safety rules
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits
  • Direct the work and flow of multiple projects
  • Supervise team members in daily operations
  • Complete work orders and FAA paperwork

Physical Requirements

  • Lift at least 70 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
  • Repetitive motion with arms and hands
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Sit or stand for long periods during repairs
  • Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet) using fall protection gear

Mental Requirements

  • Understand and implement regulations and guidelines
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate system operations
  • Work professionally with others
  • Input and retrieve information from computers
  • Experience with Apple and Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Able to travel in all weather conditions to perform repairs
  • Work independently with minimal supervision

Working Conditions

  • Most work is done in a hangar, which may include extreme temperatures
  • Some outdoor work during aircraft runs
  • Varied positions in and around aircraft

Equipment Used

  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
  • Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices
  • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment
  • Personal computer and work order prints
