Job Summary:

The Lead Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic is responsible for aircraft maintenance and repairs, quality control and assurance, continuously learning about new aircraft systems, staying abreast of new aircraft technology and regulatory changes and supervising team members and daily operations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Aircraft Maintenance and Repairs
  • Conduct scheduled inspections (A, B, C, D checks) on airframes and powerplants to ensure compliance with the manufacturer and FAA guidelines.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and structural issues with aircraft components such as engines, landing gear, hydraulic systems, and avionics.
  • Perform in-depth repairs and overhauls on aircraft engines, including the inspection of turbines, propellers, and jet engines.
• Quality Control and Assurance
  • Ensure aircraft systems are calibrated correctly and operating within safety parameters, including testing flight controls, fuel systems, and navigation instruments.
  • Identify potential defects in the aircraft’s structure or systems and take corrective actions to prevent future issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to reduce the likelihood of future breakdowns or failures, ensuring aircraft reliability and minimizing downtime.
• Continuous Learning and Certification Maintenance
  • Stay up to date with the latest aircraft technologies, tools, and regulatory changes through continuous education and training.
  • Maintain FAA A&P certification by meeting required training hours and adhering to FAA standards and regulations.
  • Obtain additional certifications for specific aircraft models, systems, or advanced technologies to expand expertise.
• Team Supervision and Leadership
  • Manage assigned team members, providing day-to-day oversight and guidance
  • Supervise task execution on repairs and inspections and monitor progress to ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Maintenance (DoM) and Assistant Director of Maintenance (Asst. DoM) regarding task status and operational needs
  • Mentor and train mechanics on proper task performance, procedures, and best practices
  • Act as a liaison for parts requests, ensuring timely communication and coordination with the appropriate departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Duties and Requirements:

• Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, stand and lift above head.
• Must be able to adhere to process protocol.
• Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.
• Must have own set of tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent related experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Willingness to work all schedules. Days, nights, and weekends.
