About the Opportunity Are you an experienced aviation maintenance professional with extensive FAA Repair Station experience? Our client, an FAA Certified Repair Station, is seeking a Chief Inspector to oversee technical functions, ensure compliance, and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality. This critical role is ideal for a candidate passionate about regulatory compliance, technical oversight, and building high-performance teams within the MRO environment.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee all repair station inspection activities, ensuring alignment with FAA Part 145 regulations and internal quality assurance protocols.
Lead day-to-day quality control functions, ensuring that all maintenance and overhaul processes meet or exceed Turn-Around-Time (TAT) and quality objectives.
Direct and coordinate inspection activities for both scheduled and unscheduled workloads.
Regulatory Compliance
Serve as the primary authority for FAA compliance, ensuring strict adherence to FARs, advisory circulars, and approved company manuals.
Maintain documentation, audit readiness, and regulatory records for FAA inspections, customer audits, and internal reviews.
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability of all inspection records.
Technical Oversight
Provide expert guidance on technical troubleshooting, inspection methodologies, and component overhaul verification processes.
Manage and improve repair station capabilities, including tooling calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
Oversee and validate technician training, certifications, and proficiency.
Team Development & Management
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of inspectors, technicians, and supervisory staff.
Establish performance standards, support professional development, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
Strategic Planning & Efficiency
Implement LEAN practices to optimize inspection processes and improve efficiency.
Develop and refine inspection planning systems to enhance accuracy and workload forecasting.
Monitor key metrics such as rework rates, compliance performance, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in an FAA Part 145 component repair station environment.
Proven expertise in accessory repair processes, including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, or landing gear.
Strong background in DER repairs, collaborating with engineering teams to develop approved processes.
Extensive experience with operation, calibration, and maintenance of aircraft accessory testing equipment, including test benches, flow stands, and electrical/hydraulic test rigs.
In-depth hands-on knowledge of aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic systems, troubleshooting, and overhaul.
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License strongly preferred.
Previous experience as a Repair Station Accountable Manager or in a comparable FAA regulatory role is highly desirable.
