We are hiring a Senior Shipping Associate in Bloomington, MN, to support shipping, logistics, inventory control, and material movement activities for mission-critical manufacturing and defense operations. This role requires experience with shipping documentation, carrier coordination, inventory systems, forklift operation, classified material handling, and warehouse logistics processes within fast-paced production and manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, package, label, and process outgoing shipments in accordance with company procedures and shipping regulations.
- Determine appropriate carriers, shipping methods, and routing for domestic and international shipments.
- Generate and maintain shipping documentation, inventory records, and shipment tracking information using computer-based systems.
- Coordinate material movement activities with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and internal teams to support on-time delivery requirements.
- Handle, process, and ship classified or sensitive materials in compliance with established security procedures and shipping requirements.
- Operate forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles to safely move materials and products throughout shipping and warehouse areas.
- Monitor shipment status, resolve shipping discrepancies, and provide shipment updates to internal customers and stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on shipping efficiency, inventory accuracy, logistics optimization, and warehouse operations.
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI-enabled tools to improve shipping workflows and operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with shipping procedures, inventory controls, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of shipping, warehouse, logistics, or related experience.
- Working knowledge of shipping procedures, carrier operations, and shipping documentation requirements.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other powered industrial vehicles; certification preferred.
- Experience using shipping software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling or processing classified or regulated materials.
- Forklift certification or other shipping/logistics certifications.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or government environments.
- Knowledge of inventory control and material tracking systems.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement or process optimization initiatives.
