The Security Intern will support the Safety and Security team by assisting with administrative and operational tasks related to regulatory compliance and internal programs. Key responsibilities include preparing slide decks, conducting quality control checks on security bulletins, tracking TSA and CBP correspondence, supporting training initiatives, updating security plans, and coordinating calendars. This internship offers hands-on exposure to airport security operations in a fast-paced, real-world environment.

This is a part time, non-exempt position based in San Diego, California.

The expected hourly range for this role is $20.00 per hour. 

• Assist with ACT Ambassador functions (Slide decks, attendance, incentives, communications)
• Quality control checks of Security Bulletin’s
• Regional Safety & Security Board slide deck prep
• Tracking of TSA Letter’s of Investigation (LOI) and CBP Penalties
• Review Action Plans
• Ad Hoc information gathering (surveys, etc.)
• Collate source documents for Workplace Violence Prevention & Intervention Training
• Update Site Security Plans as requested
• Travel, attendance and event calendars

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program
• Ability to commit to 20 hours per week
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Ability to pass airport security clearance and background check

• Previous internship or work experience in an aviation, security, or regulatory compliance setting
• Familiarity with TSA and CBP regulations or airport operations
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks independently
• Experience with creating presentations or reports for leadership audiences
• Comfortable working in both office and operational environments
• Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
• Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Must be able to navigate airport and cargo facility environments, including climbing stairs and walking between buildings
• Comfortable working in an office setting and occasionally in active operational areas (e.g., warehouse, ramp)
