Job Description
The Electrical Systems Engineer I supports the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced electrical power generation systems and components for commercial and military fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft. This safety-sensitive role focuses on products such as power inverters, transformer rectifiers, and generator control units, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and internal standards. You will collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to promote innovation, reliability, and optimized performance in all electrical designs.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of electrical power generation systems and components for commercial and military aircraft, including power inverters, transformer rectifiers, and generator control units.
- Contribute to the integration and testing of electrical systems to ensure reliable performance in fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft applications.
- Assist in creating and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts for new and existing designs.
- Perform circuit card design activities and support component-level troubleshooting to identify and resolve design or manufacturing issues.
- Use test equipment such as multimeters and voltmeters to troubleshoot, debug, and verify electrical circuits and power supplies.
- Support PCB troubleshooting, repair, and rework activities in collaboration with technicians and design engineers.
- Apply high-voltage and power electronics principles to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant electrical designs.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure proper system-level integration of electrical components.
- Ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and internal engineering standards for a regulated environment.
- Assist technicians, design engineers, and external customers with electrical engineering expertise and problem resolution in an FAA Part 145 repair station setting.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance reliability, performance, and manufacturability of electrical systems and assemblies.
- Document test results, troubleshooting findings, and design changes clearly and accurately to support traceability and audits.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in electronic or electrical engineering or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electronics design, manufacturing, and assembly in a regulated field.
- Hands-on experience with aircraft electrical systems.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, including power electronics and power supply design.
- Proficiency in reading and creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with PCB design, PCB layout, and PCB troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform component-level troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuits.
- Skilled in using test equipment such as multimeters and voltmeters for troubleshooting and debug.
- Experience with high-voltage electrical systems and associated safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, software, and systems engineers.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for complex electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience working in regulated environments such as aviation, aerospace, or similar industries.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with LabVIEW or similar tools for test automation or data acquisition.
- Familiarity with FAA Part 145 repair station operations or other audited, safety-sensitive environments.
- Background in supporting both commercial and military aircraft programs.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to technicians, engineers, and external customers.
- Strong documentation skills for design, testing, and troubleshooting activities.

Work Environment
This position is fully onsite in an FAA Part 145 repair station, operating in an audited, safety-sensitive environment focused on high standards of quality and compliance. You work on a 12-month contract with the potential to extend longer term, collaborating with a team of around 100 people, including technicians, design engineers, and external customers. The facility centers on electrical power generation systems for aircraft, using standard electronic lab equipment such as multimeters, voltmeters, and other diagnostic tools to support testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and adherence to regulatory requirements in all daily operations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
