None/Not RequiredThe Materials Engineering, Mechanical Analysis & Design Integrity (MMD) Center’s Materials & Processes Engineering (M&PE) organization is seeking an RF Microelectronics Development Product Engineering Section Leader to head a team of skilled engineers specializing in the entire product lifecycle and engaged from IRAD to production. The Section Manager will collaborate with HW Leads, Program Leads, Technical Directors, Chief Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering and Factory Leads to drive smooth development and transition to production execution, set goals, and implement improvement strategies. This role focuses on developing technical talent and applying engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle to deliver top-tier solutions to our customers.
RF Microelectronics Development Product Engineers, as part of an integrated product team, work closely with program, design, process, and test teams. They oversee the entire product lifecycle, including design, early builds, assembly transition and testing, ensuring that products meet stringent quality and performance requirements. Their responsibilities include supporting the maturation of technology roadmaps, technology insertions into development programs, driving producibility best practices into designs for improved yields, performing engineering builds, and handing off for operator training/build when ready. The Section Leader will support these engineers, fostering collaboration and excellence to drive product quality and performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a team of 15-20 RF Microelectronics Development Product Engineers.
Ensure alignment with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) needs, resolve issues, and drive the adoption of common microelectronics solutions.
Set and communicate meaningful, measurable goals to the team, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives.
Conduct performance reviews, support hiring goals, and onboard new personnel.
Spend time in factory areas to support development program activities, address issues promptly, and participate in daily factory meetings.
Travel to company facilities, suppliers, and industry conferences as needed.
Support Engineers that oversee the entire product lifecycle from IRAD to production, ensuring technology and performance targets are met.
Guide the development of design, assembly and testing methods to drive continuous product improvement.
Monitor manufacturing data to identify and help resolve defect trends and inform new development program TDPs in collaboration with design, process, and manufacturing engineering.
Support the implementation of process and design changes, verifying performance and updating requirements and specifications.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior leadership experience.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and individual contributors across multiple work site locations.
Demonstrated experience in mentoring and providing career development direction for staff engineers, as well as coordinating program staffing needs and skills to meet demand.
Strong ability to promote and instill a solid problem-solving framework in team members, fostering critical thinking and independent resolution of issues.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience in RF Microelectronics Engineering or equivalent, including development, integration, verification, validation, and production environments.
Leadership roles with direct reports and talent development experience in a technical environment, with a proven ability to communicate clear expectations and influence teams.
Experience with microelectronics manufacturing technology and CORE Champion Certification or above, complex problem solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Proven technical acumen in the design, manufacture, test, and integration of complex RF microelectronics product technologies and systems, with cross-functional experience working across Program Leadership, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Factory, and Program Operations.
Experience in management processes and tools such as EACs, Project Management, Risk & Opportunity Management, and Staffing, as well as financial planning, analysis, and IPTL/CAM.
Excellent organizational, customer service, communication, presentation, and team building skills.
The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
