We are looking for a Repair Development / Implementation Engineer. We are looking for someone who can turn engineering data into real-world repair solutions that keep aero and industrial gas turbine components flying safely and efficiently. In this hands-on, high-impact role, you’ll lead repair projects from concept to shop-floor release, collaborating with Production, Engineering, and Operations to introduce innovative, compliant, and cost-effective repair methods that make a measurable difference.
What You’ll Do
- Lead repair development projects from OEM data or engineering drawings through full production implementation.
- Plan, execute, and document repair trials; analyze results and convert findings into approved procedures and work instructions.
- Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and cost-benefit evaluations to determine repair feasibility and value.
- Create shop routings (matrix routers) and support AS9102 First Article Inspection planning and execution.
- Identify required tooling, fixtures, and equipment; submit design requests and justify purchases with cost analysis.
- Partner with Production Engineering and Operations to introduce, stabilize, and improve new repair processes on the shop floor.
- Develop and deliver technical training and mentoring related to repair methods and metallurgical considerations.
- Analyze repair performance data, investigate rejects or variation, and implement corrective and continuous improvement actions.
- Establish and monitor performance measures to improve quality, turnaround time, and process reliability.
- Support DAO and airworthiness engineering decisions with technical expertise and compliant documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers to support repair development and process improvements.
- Maintain strict focus on flight and product safety, proactively identifying risks and applying Just Culture principles in all work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering OR a Mechanical Engineering Technologist diploma from an accredited college.
- Eligibility to work in Canada on a permanent resident or Canadian citizenship basis.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods and Reliability Security clearances.
- Proficiency using standard PC software and engineering documentation systems.
- Eligible for or holding required professional registration where mandated by local regulatory bodies.
Preferred Characteristics
- Background in aerospace or manufacturing engineering/technology, with knowledge of gas turbine components, aerospace materials, metallurgy, and repair processes, preferred.
- Familiarity with documenting repair trials or process validations supported by data analysis.
- Demonstrated capability in developing formal work instructions, repair procedures, and production shop routings, preferred.
- Understanding of engineering calculations, analysis, and cost-benefit evaluations.
- Project management, planning, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to train, mentor, and communicate technical information clearly to shop and engineering teams.
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience reducing rejects, variation, or turnaround times.
