Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join our team where youll support us in ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement and maintaining the highest standards across our operations. This role will be based at our Bishops Cleeve site.

The Role:

As a Quality Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring adherence to AS9100 standards, UK CAA regulations and customer requirements within a highly regulated aerospace environment. Working with guidance from the Operations Quality Manager and Site Head of Quality, you’ll provide technical support, drive continuous improvement initiatives and help embed a strong culture of quality across the business.

You’ll support the implementation and ongoing adherence to the site Quality Management System, taking ownership of non-conformance activities including Material Review Board (MRB) processes, root cause investigations and corrective actions. You’ll be responsible for driving down cost of poor quality through effective problem solving and ensuring robust processes are in place to prevent recurrence.

Working cross-functionally, you’ll support internal and external investigations, lead continuous improvement activities using lean methodologies, and ensure NCRs are managed through structured approaches such as 8D. You’ll also contribute to system development, support quality ticketing processes, and provide measurement and verification support across the business.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Engineer with strong technical expertise and a process-driven mindset. You’ll have experience working within a regulated environment, with a solid understanding of AS9100 standards and non-conformance management.

You’ll be confident conducting root cause analysis using recognised methodologies such as 8D and 5 Whys, and comfortable working with a range of measurement equipment including gauges, micrometers and CMM. Strong analytical skills and the ability to produce clear, structured reports are essential.

You’ll also bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams to drive improvements and influence outcomes.

Experience or knowledge of UK CAA regulations, aerospace customer standards, continuous improvement methodologies (such as Lean or Six Sigma), and First Article Inspection processes would be advantageous.
