The Process Engineer will lead and manage cross-functional projects aimed at improving manufacturing operations by reducing errors, waste, and product defects, with a particular focus on the Production Tooling department. This role involves hands-on involvement in process engineering, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will drive long-term root cause analysis, corrective action plans, Lean initiatives, and Six Sigma projects, contributing to cost reduction and operational efficiency.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Improve the die review process through the integration of technology and automation.
• Enhance the accuracy of the die inspection process and reporting procedures.
• Streamline the die reworking process and implement a die tracking program for improved traceability.
• Supervise and enhance the efficiency of the die assembly area, with a focus on reducing tool build times and turnaround times.
• Conduct audits of existing tooling inventory to remove excess stock and ensure efficient resource utilization.
• Lead cross-functional process improvement projects to reduce errors, waste, and product defects.
• Actively participate in Lean initiatives and Kaizen activities to drive continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing action plans to support strategic business growth.
• Identify, develop, and implement methods, processes, and procedures to improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
• Review manufacturing activities and provide recommendations to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
• Train and mentor employees on Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
• Ensure confidentiality of company and personnel information and comply with corporate guidelines and legal requirements on business ethics.
• Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing environment, with a thorough understanding of production processes, equipment, and workflow.
• Proven track record of implementing process improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen events, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Hands-on experience in project management, including project planning, execution, and monitoring. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver projects within budget and timeline constraints.
• Previous involvement in quality management activities, such as root cause analysis, corrective action planning, quality audits, and compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO).
• Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing principles and practices, with experience in streamlining processes, eliminating waste, and optimizing resource utilization.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and tools, preferably holding Six Sigma certifications (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt). Experience in statistical analysis and driving process improvements.
• Strong technical background with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing standards. Knowledge of production tooling processes and materials is advantageous.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive change across all levels of the organization.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate ideas, present findings, and facilitate discussions effectively.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, navigate through ambiguity, and overcome challenges in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor&39;s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on process improvement and project management.
• Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Previous experience in quality management, project management, and leadership roles.
• Demonstrated success in driving process improvements and delivering tangible results in terms of cost savings, waste reduction, and quality enhancement.
WORK CONDITIONS:
• The role primarily operates within a manufacturing environment, requiring frequent interaction with forge shop personnel, tool and die personnel, quality managers, and customer service representatives.
• Work hours may vary based on project requirements and deadlines.
