We are seeking a competent Controls Engineer with gas turbine experience who will leverage their expertise in PLC programming, control panel design, instrumentation, AC and DC systems, troubleshooting, and testing to support Power Generation and Oil & Gas conversion, modification, upgrade, and service projects throughout the world.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement PLC-based control systems for gas turbine power generation and oil & gas applications, including software development, testing, and commissioning.
- Review and ensure the project design fulfills all Customer requirements as established in the Customer’s technical specifications, request for quotation/proposal, and purchase order
- Drawing creation, review, and approval for electrical assembly/layout drawings, wiring diagrams, system block diagrams, system wiring schematics, system topology/architecture diagrams, and communications/network diagrams
- Software development from one of or a combination of the following:
- Logic Diagrams
- Control Narrative/Specification
- OEM Documentation and Drawings
- Cause & Effect Diagrams
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Develop documentation that includes Factory and Site Acceptance Test, Control Specification, Cause & Effect Matrix, Device Summary, Operator Manuals, and System Maintenance manuals
- Troubleshoot existing PLC programs using historical data, real-time data, and customer feedback
- Site services to include, control system installation supervision, testing, startup, and Customer training
- Work to Corporate Engineering and Project Execution guidelines, standards, and processes
- Effective communication and collaboration with multiple levels within the organization
- Travel to customer sites domestic and international as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical Preferred) with relevant controls/programming experience
- 3+ years of experience in Electrical, Controls, or Project Engineering roles
- 3+ years in an automation environment with direct involvement in software development, configuration, testing, and implementation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with gas turbines such as GE, Westinghouse, Siemens, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Solar, ABB, or Mitsubishi in power generation or oil & gas industries
- Proficiency with Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation, Siemens, GE/Emerson PLC platforms, or GE MKV, MKVI, MKVIe
- Proficiency with RSView Studio, FactoryTalk View, Cimplicity, Wonderware/InTouch, or Ignition Human Machine Interface (HMI) platforms
- Ability to understand Electrical Schematics, Cable Schedules, Control Logic Diagrams, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, and Cause & Effect Diagrams
- Electrical design including specification and selection of Electrical and Controls components, Low Voltage Power distribution (480 VAC/120 VAC), and process control instrumentation
- Creation of connection drawings using AutoCAD 2-D Software
- Ability to analyze electrical/mechanical systems and manufacturer’s data sheets
- Proficiency with appropriate tools to conduct electrical testing, including digital multi-meters, process calibrators, and function generators
