CMM Engineer
Morson Talent are recruiting exclusively on behalf of their client based in Gloucester, a leading Aerospace manufacturer.
The CMM Engineer role is initially for a 12-month contract although highly likely to be long-term. Pay rate is 42 umbrella (31.51 per hour PAYE Plus 4.59 per hour holiday pay 36.13).
CMM Engineer Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the main point of contact between Manufacturing and Man Eng for all CMM-related matters.
• Conduct and analyse Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) studies.
• Review and validate CMM programs to ensure they meet engineering requirements and best practices.
• Provide technical feedback to CMM programmers and production staff based on study results and performance analysis.
• Manage the validation cycle of CMM programs across multiple components.
• Investigate and resolve CMM and inspection-related issues through root cause analysis.
• Provide support in Modus and Camio programming to improve CMM efficiency and accuracy.
• Act as a consultant on inspection methods, helping to develop and implement more robust measurement strategies.
CMM Engineer Skills & Experience Required:
• Strong background in CMM programming and verification, with knowledge in Modus and Camio systems.
• Proven experience in conducting and interpreting Gauge R&R / MSA studies.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and aerospace quality standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform thorough root cause analysis.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both engineering and production teams.
• Ability to balance day-to-day production support with continuous improvement initiatives.
• The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, using their initiative to manage tasks, solve problems, and drive progress without constant supervision.
Qualifications: (experience over qualifications will be considered – not essential)
• HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metrology, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• Additional training or certifications in metrology or quality systems are advantageous.
