Senior Test Engineer (Cross Domain Solutions)

Pay Estimated: $47.62-$52.62/Hour

Responsibilities:

As the Senior Test Engineer, you’ll participate in the planning of technical approaches, resources, schedules, budgets and equipment required for the testing and evaluating of new systems, products and special devices.

• Plan and coordinate test strategies, schedules, resources, equipment, and environmental lab time for engineering validation across the full development lifecycle.

• Design and maintain test environments, including custom hardware and network test setups (e.g., IO drawers, network cabinets, payloads).

• Develop and execute manual and automated test procedures that trace to system requirements and performance metrics.

• Write, execute, and maintain automated regression test scripts using Python and related tools.

• Analyze test results (manually or via scripting) to validate functionality, performance, and environmental compliance (including TRL-7 testing).

• Collaborate across engineering disciplines (SE, SW, FW, HW) to confirm test case mapping and ensure full system verification.

• Generate formal test documentation, including test plans, test cases, procedures, and test reports using industry-standard tools and office products.

• Support and lead efforts in network-level testing, including routing/forwarding validation and traffic simulation using tools like Xena Traffic Generators.

• Maintain and manage lab documentation and network/rack implementation standards.

Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Science, Math, etc.);

  • Master’s degree accepted with 3+ years of experience; otherwise, 5+ years of experience required.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Python scripting for test automation

  • Experience with object-oriented programming, system process scripting, and test development

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN, ESP, and general network testing

  • Familiarity with GitLab/VSCode for scripting and source control

  • Experience using Xena Traffic Generation tools or equivalent

  • Competent in using Microsoft Office tools for technical documentation

• Additional Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Cross Domain Solutions and R2B/B2R networking principles (preferred)

  • Experience with hardware payload environmental testing (TRL7 level)

  • Capable of network cabinet planning, lab setup, and network equipment management

  • Agile mindset with a focus on team collaboration and process improvement

• Work Environment: On-site lab and system testing work required. Occasional travel may be needed for remote test events or environmental qualification labs.
