Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Avionics AME-E Technician is responsible for leading the avionics installation, setup and testing of navigation, radio and electrical equipment on the aircraft while ensuring the work is carried out in accordance to Airbus and Transport Canada Standards.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Installation and testing of Avionics Wire Harnesses and Equipment:
Manage Avionics installations and projects as assigned
Work closely with sheet metal and mechanical teams to meet deadlines
Create wire lists for wire harness manufacturing from drawings
Use laser wire printer to produce specific coded wire and build wire harnesses to conform to Aircraft configuration.
Install AHCA manufactured harnesses and avionics equipment boxes on aircraft in accordance with manuals and drawings
Install externally supplied harnesses and equipment as per specific aircraft configuration and install manuals.
Collaborate with the engineering department in making revisions to drawings to ensure they are correct to the installation
Program, code, and configure equipment as required for operation by completing software downloads for basic aircraft systems and radios, ensuring updates to systems are completed and are the correct revision level prior to aircraft testing
Carry out all required ground and flight testing to ensure correct operation of systems
Perform pitot static and transponder tests prior to flight and sign log entries confirming completion
Troubleshoot avionics systems for snags found during/after installation and testing
Reference and understand internal and external systems manuals to ensure information is readily accessible during both the installation and function check
Inspect and repair installations as required and carry out quality assurance checks in conjunction with the Quality department
Production Organization:
Maintain correct daily time booking in SAP by scanning in and out of work orders
Complete work order sign outs for all tasks requiring completion within the work order book
Record all snags/defects/deficiencies found during the aircraft assembly process in the work order book
Ensure work packages are complete and present prior to beginning aircraft production i.e. various documentation, parts/components required for production, work instructions
Ensure production bay remains neat, tidy, organized and free from FOD prior to beginning aircraft production
Complete daily tool check on company issued tool boxes in accordance with internal FOD policies/procedures
Maintain cleanliness of the work area and hangar through end of day clean up ensuring 5S is obtained on a daily basis including verification of/accounting for all tooling returned to applicable shop toolboxes
Training/Continual Learning:
In addition to formal training, maintain currency and updating of knowledge through self-study
Participate in/complete recurrent aircraft type training upon AHCA request
Remain current on changes to internal (AG) and external (TCCA) service bulletins and safety alerts
Position Requirements
Education:
Experience:
3 years’ experience working on aircraft
2 years’ experience completing avionics installations
Experience with Garmin series avionics equipment is an asset
Previous experience on Airbus products is an asset
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
Eligible to enroll in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program through successful screening
Literacy Skills; able to read and interpret technical drawings, instructions, and manuals
Able to follow instructions and standards for product quality and report non-conformances and quality concerns
Follow company/industry safety regulations and guidelines; offer solutions, report concerns and proactively engage in product and personal safety
Able to work within and lead in a team environment on day to day circumstances
Able to identify and solve common problems during aircraft completion process
Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to rectify and communicate issues/snags to Lead Hand, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
