Senior Business Systems Analyst I
Job Description:
DPP is seeking a Sr. Business Systems Analyst I for an opportunity with a major health insurance solutions organization.
 
Location: Columbia, SC (Fully onsite, potential for partial onsite after training)
Duration: 6 months; contract-to-hire (no sponsorship available); W2 position
Residency requirement: Must have resided in the U.S. 3 of the last 5 years for federal contract compliance
 
Position summary:
  • The Senior Business Systems Analyst supports secure, webbased application development within a highly collaborative Agile Scrum environment.
  • This role works closely with product owners, developers, and testers to refine requirements, create user stories with clear acceptance criteria, and ensure that technical and business needs are fully understood.
  • The Senior BSA plays a key role in backlog refinement, sprint activities, API and data analysis, and user acceptance testing.
  • This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to bridge the gap between business priorities and Javabased technical system constraints.

  • The BSA will join a collaborative, positive, and teamoriented division that supports multiple Scrum teams within a larger eServices portal organization.
  • The team values communication, transparency, shared ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • A typical day includes standard Agile ceremonies, close interaction with the Product Owner, and active engagement with developers, testers, and business users. 
Key responsibilities:
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Write, refine, and maintain user stories and acceptance criteria for secure, webbased applications.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to ensure clarity, feasibility, and prioritization of backlog items.
  • Work closely with developers and testers to clarify requirements, explain business context, and confirm technical constraints.
  • Review API documentation, UI wireframes, and data models to ensure alignment between business needs and system functionality.
  • Support secure Javabased application development by analyzing how features interact with existing components.
  • Utilize Digital.ai Agility (or similar tools) to manage work items, track progress, and support Agile delivery.
  • Coordinate and support user acceptance testing (UAT) with stakeholders, validating that features meet business needs.
  • Provide subjectmatter support for secure application environments, including authentication, authorization, and data privacy considerations.
  • Assist with action requests, documentation updates, and general analytical support throughout the development lifecycle. 
Required education/equivalency:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or related field;
  • OR, 2 years of jobrelated experience plus an associate degree in a related field;
  • OR, 4 years of jobrelated work experience 
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • 6 years of IT business analysis experience.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
  • Experience writing user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Experience supporting secure web applications.
  • Basic understanding of Javabased systems sufficient to communicate with developers and understand constraints. 
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Experience with Digital.ai Agility for backlog management.
  • Experience working with secure environments involving authentication, authorization, and data privacy.
  • Agile certifications (CSPO, PMIACP, or similar).
  • Experience with Visio, SQL, or API testing tools such as Insomnia. 
Additional details:
  • Work hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1hour lunch), some flexibility.
  • May require occasional afterhours or weekend work.
  • Contracttohire role; candidates requiring sponsorship cannot be submitted.
  • Must meet federal residency requirements (U.S. residency for 3 of the last 5 years).
