Role Summary
* Performs composite-related fabrication of detail parts and subassemblies using carbon fiber, fiberglass, and other lightweight materials commonly used in the aerospace industry. Performs fabrication, lay-up, assembly, coating, and testing activities using established drawings, planning, and requirements while maintaining strict safety, quality, and Foreign Object Debris standards. Education & Job Requirements
* You must have
* A High School Diploma or GED.
* A minimum of 1 year or more of experience related to fabrication or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Electrical skills, including soldering on electronic and avionics products.
* Experience assembling and installing wire harnesses and avionics products.
* Experience working with adhesives and wire handling.
* Mechanical skills, including experience using torque wrenches.
* Ability to understand and fabricate pre-manufactured composite materials using blueprints, engineering drawings, and planning documents.
* Ability to select correct parts, materials, tools, assemblies, standards, and hardware to accomplish assigned work.
* Ability to report workmanship errors, defects in parts or materials, and procedural issues in accordance with company procedures.
* Ability to coordinate work and share pertinent information across multiple shifts. Preferred Skills
* You will have
* Experience working with thermal protection systems (TPS).
* Drilling experience.
* Painting or autobody experience.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings. Job Duties & Functions
* You will be able
* Perform composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly of detail parts and subassemblies.
* Set up and operate automated lay-up machines.
* Use fabrication tooling materials and automated or motorized equipment to accomplish fabrication tasks.
* Perform hand lay-up fabrication and assembly, or use NC equipment to complete assigned work.
* Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for testing activities.
* Perform basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation.
* Apply routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements.
* Work on articles of moderate complexity using established drawings and requirements.
* Maintain exemplary housekeeping and Foreign Object Debris control standards.
* Use required personal protective equipment at all times to support a safe working environment. Physical Requirements
* Able to
* Stand for extended periods of time.
* Bend, crouch, and crawl into confined spaces.
* Lift ten pounds or more.
* Work all shifts as required.
* Successfully complete required on-the-job or formal classroom training.
