POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Buyer/AnalystDEPARTMENT: Procurement FLSA STATUS: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyer/Analyst will source and purchase parts, tooling, services, and/or supplies necessary for the maintenance of the company’s fleet. This role is responsible for issuing, coordinating, and managing purchase orders, tracking the entire procurement process, and ensuring that parts are delivered on time and in compliance with quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide adequate material support to the entire company
- Create purchase or repair orders with vendors to meet internal requirements.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Planning to ensure that all materials requirements are purchased and staged in advance of the maintenance plan.
- Working with Supply Chain Supervisor assist in development of RFP’s, bids, supplier contracts, yearly/bulk contract provisions
- Receive and action materials requisitions from Maintenance Stations or other internal sources.
- Review inventory levels, requisitions, station allocations & usage data to determine proper stock coverage.
- Analyze consumption data, manufacture data and forecast parts requirements to determine best inventory position. Creates solicitations and Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation, supports proposals, conducts price and cost analysis, negotiates price/cost and related terms and other agreement provisions
- Analyze and calculate procurement costs and develop cost reduction strategies. Negotiate with suppliers and contractors regarding specifications, scope of work, prices, terms and conditions. Analyze cost and price data from vendors
- Develop and implement sourcing & planning strategies (short & long term)
- Experience with sourcing goods and services specific to the aviation industry such as, MRO (maintenance repair and operations)
- Monitor overall rotable and expendable spares and set ROP’s for proper allocations.
- Develop & maintain an approved supplier list (ASL) & monitor vendor performance.
- Be constantly aware of industry changes and the availability of alternate sources of materials. and cost saving items.
- Participate in inventory reviews and audits as required.
- Support surplus sales initiatives.
- Report and document all cost savings and cost avoidance activities.
- Reviews and resolves related invoicing issues and coordinates with Finance.
- Establish and maintain good housekeeping practices of all assigned areas.
- Maintain security measures to provide optimum control of the inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to learn and adhere to the Companys General Maintenance Manual (GMM) 135 Regulations and Dangerous Goods CFR 49.
- Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for purchasing and spare inventory
- Ability to solve complex problems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Purchasing, Business, Inventory Management or related area
- Professional certification (CPIM/APICS) is a plus.
Work Experience:
- Prior experience in the airline/aviation industry is a necessity.
- Experience in inventory forecasting and analysis
- Prefer at least four (4) years in a purchasing or procurement role, supply chain analyst, or demand planning role.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Computer, phone skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
- Ability to work within a 24/7 operation including holidays.
- Ability to pass 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by airline regulations and company policies.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986.
Physical requirements:
- Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position in a normal office environment.
- Must be able to communicate through verbal, written, and electronic means.
- Must be able to access filing cabinets, drawers, and shelves of varying height.
- Must be able to move up to 25 pounds on an infrequent basis.
