We believe that inclusion helps us thrive and grow at United across our collaborative Finance teams consisting of Financial Planning & Analysis, Internal Audit, Treasury, Global Procurement, Controllership, Investor Relations and more. These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Analyst supports the financial operations of United Aviate Academy. Responsible for all financial processes including budget tracking, billing, receivables, payables, financial reporting/statements, forecasting, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, contract planning/financial review, payroll, revenue recognition, light tax related functions, analysis and reporting, and audit preparation.
Work closely with and report to the Director, Finance Controller working in partnership with the parent company United and their accounting/finance/treasury team members. Collaborate with a small team covering payroll, receivables, and payables.

  • Maintain Workday FP&A module – track local expenses by department and supplier to budget and forecast. Preparation and distribution of LAT invoices.
  • Preparation of journal entries in Workday & Oracle for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
  • Posting and reconciliation of fixed assets and lease accounting entries from corporate accounting team. Posting and reconciliation of monthly maintenance inventory entries. Posting student ACH and credit card payments on accounts. Aircraft registration fees.
  • Reconciliation of Intercompany accounting with United
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Responsible for developing and improving accounting and finance processes to enhance consistency and operational efficiency
  • Preparation of year-end books and audit schedules, and coordination with internal and external auditors on requests for audits


This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded. This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related area
  • 5 to 8 years related experience in accounting field.
  • Accounts payable, general ledger, and balance sheet
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience processing and/or managing month-end, quarter-end, year-end processes, developing reports, and auditing
  • Knowledge and understanding of finance/accounting systems and designing processes and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, finance, and accounting systems
  • Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, macros, and what-if analysis
  • Strong ability to use data & analytics; determine key decisions and identify actions for best results
  • Knowledge of accounting/financial statements, policies and procedures including SOX controls
  • Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective
  • Ability to thrive within ambiguity and drive complex projects and day-to-day initiatives/task
  • Think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items
  • Outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, valuing compliance & ethical behavior, governance & controls, and

    adhering to company and financial policies

  • Motivated, self-directed, and results-driven approach to work, takes ownership of assigned tasks to drive them to timely completion

  • Build strong partnerships across the business areas, advising on finance/accounting practices
  • Courage to make key financial decisions and advise leadership with professionalism & poise.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • CPA, Master’s, or MBA in finance/accounting preferred or equivalent certifications
